Audience Research

R&D and audience testing in Instagram immersive experiences

StoryFutures led audience research on the project, providing psychology and data insight on how innovation in immersive Instagram experiences can unlock educational value for users and creators. Rapid Alpha testing provided insights on user responses throughout the production process to enable Unit 9 and Meta to target desired user responses in a huge array of new AR filters and effects with an educational purpose for four different partners. Research explored educational content ranging from science to natural history to the arts to history and culture to provide insight on over 2,500 active participants. This is one of the largest ‘in the wild’ datasets for understanding audience behaviours with immersive technologies and sheds new light on how to harness AR to positively impact learning, information retention, drive onward learning journeys and inform best-design practice for Instagram creators.
